By the end of this fiscal year, Punjab and Haryana may witness full implementation of Financial Inclusion Plan. The Reserve Bank of India has set March 31st as the deadline for the banks to provide banking services to all the villages with population above 2,000. There are only 275 and 144 villages remaining in Punjab and Haryana respectively that have not been covered under the ambit of banking services. The Chairperson of SLBC (State-Level banker's Committee), Usha Ananthasubramanian has asked the member banks to cover the remaining villages in the states by next month. |
