The interest rate scenario in the country is already reaching its saturation limit and any further hike is likely not to exceed more than 50 bps, feels Aditya Puri, MD of HDFC Bank.

"We are probably near the peak of the interest rate cycle. I don't expect a three or four percentage points increase from here. The increase could be 25 to 50 basis points," said Mr Puri after launching the bank's ‘by invitation only' credit-card for the extra rich customer base.

The card is meant only for selected 5000 people. The bank has not yet disclosed the net worth critieria to be eligible for this card.

It is said to be a virtually 'no limits' card.
