Public sector, Indian Bank has been sucked in for Rs 34 lakh by a person who claimed to be a builder and thereby availed home loan by submitting fake documents.

A Kolkata-based resident, Tapas Kar posed himself to be a builder named Arindam Ganguly and approached the bank on the basis of an upcoming high-rise property on Bakultala Road that was said to be developed by him. He also opened an account there. In fact he had also provided a photo identity as Ganguly.

Four of his associates had been also been arrested earlier. They had been taking home displaying fake documents. They took home loans to acquire five flats in the names of Dipankar Bhattacharya and Kohinoor Prakash Shaw. They also gave forged payslips, claiming to work in a factory.
The complaint on the matter was filed on Girish Park Police Station in Kolkata on June 29th, 2006.
