An RBI deputy general manager and his wife, who is working for an NGO for women and child welfare, have been arrested for assaulting their 15-year old domestic help, Manjari Nayek. Manjari was battered by Shiv Prakash and Madhuri Mishra with a wooden Plank and was starved for last three days.

Manjari was admitted to the high dependency unit of a private hospital in critical condition. She had been suffering from high fever and multiple trauma. Doctors also revealed that she was anaemic.

Manjari was observed by the care taker of the building around midnight. Her eyes were swollen, face bruised and there were scratches on her arms and legs. When asked by the caretaker, she said that she had been beaten up repeatedly and given nothing to eat since the last three days.

The caretaker took manjari to his room where she rested for the night and then admitted her to the hospital the next morning. The doctors were shocked to see Manjari's condition and they suggested the caretaker to file a complaint against the Mishras. He along with Manjari went to the Bhowanpore Police Station and reported the matter.

Bhowanpore police informed their counterparts at Alipore police station where an FIR was lodged. Police called Mishras to the hospital and interrogated Shiv Prasad and subsequently arrested him. After some time Shiv Prasad's wife was also arrested.
