In another call to the public to surrender all coins of 25p and below denominations to banks, regulator Reserve Bank of India has asked all customers to do the same before June 30, 2011.

"Coins of denomination of 25 paise and below will cease to be legal tender from June 30. These will not be accepted for exchange at bank branches from July 1 onwards," the RBI said.

All banks have been instructed to make arrangement for the exchange process and give currency equivalent to the face value of the coins to the customer.
