New Delhi based public sector bank, Punjab National Bank organized a special camp for farm lending in Perambalur near Tiruchi yesterday. The camp was a part of bank's month long Special Agriculture Credit Campaign, which the bank initiated mid-June. Over 300 farmers attended the camp.

The move to boost the lending to the ever growing "farm loans" sector, the bank sanctioned loans for farmers who attended the camp. These sanction letters were distributed by Dr. Darez Ahmed, District Collector, Perambalur. This would also be instrumental in the bank acheiving its targets for priority sector lending, and commitment towards financial inclusion.

The bank's deputy GM, Ms. T. Latha emphasized on timely repayment of loans, which would make them available for lending again as and when required. While Dr. Darez also added asked the farmers to make use of the opportunity and increase the farm output.

The Tiruchi circle of the PNB has 78 branches, which have advanced farm loans worth Rs. 56 crore to over 6,217 farmers in the region.
