Public sector lender, Indian Bank has brought account portability feature for the disposal of its customers. The portability feature which is already available in the mobile telecommunications space has now found its way in banking space also.

This facility will be of great use for the customers that have to change cities frequently. This feature will allow them to keep their original account number even if they change branches.

In a statement, the bank said, "The customers can shift his or her account to any of the desired branch any number of times, without any change in the account number, with just a change in home branch code."

It also said, "Customers can approach his home branch or the transferee branch with the request letter for transfer of account."
