Hyderabad based, Andhra Bank, has adopted a dolphin (christened as Dolle) and Enter key on qwerty keywords as its corporate slogan. The brand initiative is a part of bank's plans for pan-India expansion. The bank has set a target of Rs 1.50 lakh crore business by September 2010. Commenting on the new brand identity, R S Reddy, Chairman and Managing Director, Andhra Bank, said, "The dolphin is universally accepted as a friendly, intelligent and responsive symbol while the enter key will identify with all our stakeholders as a bank with tech-savvy character." Revealing expansion plans, Reddy said, "We will be opening over 200 branches outside Andhra Pradesh in the next two years to become a national bank. We are also aiming to cross Rs 1.5 lakh crore business in the next 15 months." "We already have obtained permission from the Reserve Bank of India for opening 121 new branches and will seek permission for opening 100 more," he added. "We see good potential across the country as 434 branches in other States are bringing 47 per cent of business," Mr Reddy said. The bank has 1,438 branches in India, of which 1,004 are operational in the native state, and generating 53 percent of the total bank business. Recently the bank allied with Bank of Baroda and Indian Overseas Bank to set up a new Malaysian bank, "India BIA Bank (Malaysia) Bhd". The total business done by the bank stood at Rs.1,03,818 Crore, with a growth of 23.60 %, in year ended on March 31, 2009. |
