As a part of its Financial Inclusion initiative, Canara Bank has opened an ultra-small branch in Tamil Nadu. The branch has been opened at Oorseri Panchayat near Alanganallur.

Such branches from the bank are aimed at providing banking facilities to the villages with population between 1,000 and 2,000. This is only the second branch of its kind in the country which is opened by Canara Bank. The first one was opened at Aralumallige in Karnataka.

The branch is operated by a Business Correspondent and is linked with Core Banking Solution (CBS) network. Transactions upto Rs. 2,000 can be made at the branch. The most important feature of this branch is that it is open on all seven days in the week.
