Axis Bank set up another branch in Jharkhand

One of the leading private sector lenders, Axis Bank is on a constant spree to expand its presence in the country. The bank has set up a branch in the second capital city of Jharkhand, Dumka.

Axis Bank has opened the bank on the bhagalpur road in Dumka. The Bank's President, Mr S K Mitra said that the launch of the new branch is yet another move by the bank to strengthen its focus on extensive consumer banking network spread across the country.

Inaugurating the branch, Mr Mitra said that the bank commits to bring around a superior banking network along with convenience and comfort to the customers.

Presently the bank has 759 branches and 20 extension counters in India. There is an ATM network of 3,243 ATMs installed at various places across the country.

Recently the bank has also opened two new branches in Orissa. By April 2010, the bank plans to set up branches at six more places in the state.

Axis Bank has customer base of more than 100 lakh customers with a market capitalization of Rs 13,502 crores as on February 20th, 2009.
