Bajaj group has been eyeing an entry into the banking segment. But it seems that the plan would need some time to get implemented as RBI is not very inquisitive in granting banking licenses to large industrial houses. However, Rahul Bajaj, chairman of Bajaj Finserv and Bajaj Auto Finance, has not lost hope and stands optimistic in this regard. The entry of the company in the sector is totally dependent on the guidelines set by RBI for granting fresh banking licenses to corporate houses. The RBI guidelines were to come by July. Bajaj Group's entry into the banking sector had the support of shareholders of both Bajaj Auto Finance and Bajaj Finserv. "We are in principle interested in getting into banking," Bajaj told shareholders of Bajaj Finserv and Bajaj Auto Finance. Bajaj said that it was not justified to deny banking licenses to industrial houses and that there were more reasons to give them licenses than denying them one. "Give it to the good guys and not those who will run away with the depositor's money," he suggested. "We can't go back to the old policies in this age and time," he said.
