Pubic sector, Bank of India seems to be on a continuous ride to expand its branch network across the country. The bank plans to increase its presence and has recently received the license for starting 130 new branches. The bank has just launched a new branch at Tirumayam in Pudukottai district of Tamil Nadu on February 28th. Speaking at the launch, Bank of India's Chairman and Managing Director, Mr T.S. Narayanaswamy said, "The bank has obtained license for opening 130 branches this fiscal. We have inaugurated around 100 new branches so far, taking the total branch network to 2,978." The bank's branch at Tirumayam is 154th in the state and was inaugurated by the Home Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram. The bank has opened 10 of its 100 odd branches during this fiscal in Tamil Nadu. Recently the Bank of India has won the top public sector bank under ‘best bank' category and ‘overall best bank' in the Dun and Bradstreet Banking Awards 2009. |
