British lender, Barclays PLC has set up its first branch in Pune, Maharashtra. The branch is located at Satguru Centre, Mouje Bund Garden Road. Pune has a vast as well as diverse customer base mainly owing to the large number of educational institutes in the city which attract students from different places. This has been one of the factors why major IT and manufacturing companies are targetting the city as their next hub for expansion. Barclays would provide its range of product facilities and services to the entire diverse diaspora ranging from retail customers, including professionals, salaried individuals and entrepreneurs. The new branch has taken the branch count of the Indian operations of the bank to 9 (Mumbai, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Junagadh near Rajkot, Kanchipuram near Chennai and Nelamangala near Bengaluru, Ahmednagar in Maharashtra and Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh). It has more 25 ATMs in its ATM network.
