Public sector lender, Bank of Baroda has laid plans for increasing its presence in the northern belt of India. The bank aims to open as many as 22 new branches in the Chandigarh region in this fiscal. States namely Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Chandigarh and parts of Haryana are covered in the Chandigarh region. Presently the bank has 120 branches in this region. The bank has booked a total business of Rs 11000 crore in the fiscal last ended, said regional manager S K Goyal. Growth has been observed in areas of agriculture, retail and small and medium enterprises (SME), said Goyal. In order to put a check on the rising ATM frauds, he said that the bank is putting cameras at ATMs. "Out of the 54 ATMs in the region, 30 have already been covered," Goyal said.
