The Indian operations of Citibank, the leading global financial services company has been awarded with the title of ‘Excellence in Internet Banking' for the year 2009. The bank was presented the award at The Asian Banker Excellence in Retail Financial Services Awards Program. The bank rose to the pinnacle after leaving behind 120 banks and 23 countries spread across the APAC, Gulf and Central Asian region. The Asian Banker Excellence in Retail Financial Services Awards have many global consultants and global bankers in the list of jury panel who ensure that balanced and transparent scorecard is presented and the most deserving wins. The selection process proceeds for three month and only then is the decision taken to decide the winner. N. Rajashekaran, Country Business Manager, Consumer and Commercial Banking, Citi India spoke on the issue saying that online banking is gaining popularity amongst consumers and the company will emphasize more on development of its online banking facilities. The company would also be investing more into this segment so as to ensure better security of the customer against internet banking frauds and provide easy banking facilities to him. Citi has also been given the award for Best Regional Retail Business in Asia for 2009. |
