Public sector lenders Dena Bank and Vijaya Bank are to receive capital infusion worth Rs 907 crore from the government as equity capital. The capital infusion is a part of the recapitalization venture of the government. "The bank is in receipt of communication from the government conveying its decision to infuse Rs 539 crore by way of preferential allotment of equity...," Dena Bank said. Vijaya Bank's share in the infusion process would amount to Rs 368 crore. Other lenders like United Bank of India and UCO Bank have also affirmed the fact that they will be receiving capital infusion from the governemnt. UCO Bank would be recapitalized by Rs 940 crore while United Bank of India's share would be Rs 308 crore. It had been announced by Finance Minister, Pranab Mukherjee that public sector banks would be receiving capital infusion worth Rs 15000 crore this fiscal as a move to maintain their Tier I capital to 8% by fiscal end. Lenders like Union Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, IDBI Bank, UCO Bank and Central Bank India have already received capital infusion.
