The country's largest lender, State Bank of India is set to appoint Diwakar Gupta as one of the managing directors of the bank. It is however unsure as to who would be the other two MDs of the bank. According to sources, the appointment has received clearance from personnel and training department and the only thing remaining is a formal appointment notice from the finance ministry. Amongst the other people considered for this post are Hemant Contractor, who is the CFO, and Pratip Chaudhuri, in-charge of international banking. With SBI chairman O P Bhatt's retirement nearing, Contractor and Chaudhuri are also being considered for the chairman post. Gupta will now join as MD with R Sridharan. The position was vacant for nearly half a year after retirement of S K Bhattacharya.
