Kolkata: A training institute for farmers and entrepreneurs was inaugurated Debra near East Midnapore district of West Bengal by Allahabad Bank. This institute will provide spread awareness towards applying a more methodical approach towards farming and other economic activities and provide training to suitable persons so that they can derive maximum profits from their efforts in a sustainable way. Allahabad Bank has many such institutes in different part of the country and this was the second such institute established by Allahabad Bank. Earlier it had also opened a training institute for farmers and entrepreneurs at Bolpur in Shantiniketan at Birbhum district of West Bengal. Allahabad Bank has received positive feedback for its endeavors in this direction and farmers and entrepreneurs who received training from such institutes are actively using the knowledge acquired for increasing their profits. Spreading awareness among their customers and helping them take a more informed and economically sound decisions is in line with the sustainable banking policies mooted by the Reserve Bank of India. Social responsibility is a issue that no bank can avoid and many public and private sector banks have opened a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) department. RBI has also decided to have a 'social audit' of banks besides their regular audit to get an idea of the CSR initiatives taken by the bank during a fiscal year. |
