The Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank (KVGB) is marching steadily towards achievement of its financial inclusion plans. The bank has recently set up 10 rural branches in villages where population is 2000 and above. The branches are all under core banking system (CBS). The branches have been inaugurated in Dharwad by KVGB chairman K P Muralidharan via mode of video conferencing. As part of its financial inclusion initiatives, the bank has identified 400 villages where banking amenities need to be provided and which have population of 2000 and above. So far as many as more than 8.6 lakh no frills accounts have been opened under this drive. Out of the 10 branches, 2 branches each have been set up in Bijapur, Bagalkot, Haveri, Udupi and Gadag districts.
