ICICI bank’s initiative to help women of SHG

One of largest lending bank of the country ICICI bank has decided to assist and empower the women of Self help group. The bank will be launching a special plan that will support a number of women and help them to become independent.

In the beginning the bank will establish a saving bank deposit account with the cheque book facility, for every SHG and will distribute loan. The managing director of the bank reported that the interest rate on these loans is 14%, the bank is aiming to help out and enhance women empowerment through this programme. Till next the bank is aiming to help 2 million women with loan disbursement of Rs 25,000 crore.

Last year also bank assisted SHGs across 164 districts of seven States with the loan of 70,000. The sole purpose of the plan is the empowerment of unprivileged women in rural and semi-urban areas.
