Mobile banking service of SBI extended to non- Java, non- GPRS systems

State Bank Freedom- the mobile banking service of SBI has now been made available on both non- Java as well as non- GPRS phones.

The service till now was limited only to Java enabled mobiles over SMS/GPRS/WAP and on non-Java phones with GPRS connections.

The mobile banking facility of the bank was launched in March 2009. It initiated as a pilot study in all the bank branches which offered the retail customers a chance to experience 'secured Anytime Anywhere Banking experience'.

Services like transfer of funds, viewing of the balance, and mini-statements of the customers' accounts, payment of bills, request for cheque book, recharge of prepaid mobile connections, viewing of demat account details, top-up of Tata Sky/other direct-to-home services, and conduct of m-commerce transactions can be availed using mobile banking.

The service is available for all modes namely application based, over Wireless Application Protocol (WAP), and over USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data).
