Regional rural banks have also started the process of providing better and sophisticated facilities to their customers. Rushikulya Gramya Bank (RGB) of Orissa is going to introduce online banking facilities and smart as well as biometric ATMs to the customers. The process would be developed in aid with its sponsor, Andhra Bank once the core banking solution (CBS) has been implemented in all its branches. The bank has 81 branches in Ganjam and Gajapati districts of Southern Orissa. The bank expects that CBS would be implemented in all its branches by March 2011 which is far ahead of the deadline of September 2011 set by the Centre. The Centre has directed that all RRBs should have CBS facilities installed with the help of their sponsor banks by September 2011. "We have already prepared the roadmaps for the CBS in support of our sponsoring bank Andhra Bank," Chairman of the bank P V S T R Seshagiri Rao said. He said that the first branch would have CBS facilities in July while 50% of the branches would come under the umbrella of this facility by September. "We will tie up with Andhra Bank to use the ATMs of the sponsoring bank by the customers of RGB after implementation of the CBS. Any customer of RGB will operate their transaction through ATMs of Andhra Bank anywhere in the country like any other commercial banks," he said. |
