Sam Pitroda, advisor to Prime Minister on public information has said that broadband connections would soon reach as many as over 2,50,000 panchayats. "We are planning to connect 250,000 panchayats through broadband. We want to bring fibre cable to majority of them," he said. According to him the next challenge for the government in its priority list is mobile banking and once introduced it will change the face of Indian banking. "For the first time we are a country of 600 million connected people. However, we need to find out how we can use it for our benefit." Financial inclusion is the need of the hour and cannot be achieved without inclusive growth. "If merchants, bank and operator can come together, they can develop a platform for mobile banking," he said.
