Public sector banks are focusing into heavy recruitments this fiscal. With many vacancies arising in banks owing to superannuation and other related factors, hiring on large scale has become inevitable for the lenders. Amongst these lenders are Central Bank of India and Vijaya Bank. Both these lenders have plans to recruit 2,500 and 1,500 employees respectively this fiscal. According to CMD of Central Bank of India, Mr S Sridhar, the bank is aiming to hire 2500 employees in this fiscal. It had hired around 1500 employees last fiscal. Speaking on the issue, he said that majority of the staff in the bank of higher age group. On the same note, CMD of Vijaya Bank, Mr Upendra Kamath said that his bank would be hiring as many as 1,500-2,000 as clerks and officers in this fiscal. Also the bank has plans to add 100 branches and 250 ATMs to its branch and ATM count respectively this year.
