A PSU bank manager brings disgrace to the banking industry as he was found demanding and accepting bribe from a customer. The manager has been taken into the custody by the CBI for accepting bribe worth Rs 1.5 lakh to release a bank guarantee to its customer. The complainant who is a civil engineer said that the bank manager of Bank of Baroda (BoB) asked him to produce Rs 2.5 lakhs for releasing bank guarantee worth Rs 2.27 crore. He further informed that he had already been released three bank guarantees worth Rs 1.18 crore and when he requested for the remaining bank guarantees, the manager refused and demanded Rs 2.5 lakhs in order to avoid the cancellation of the three bank guarantees released earlier. The accused, Rajender Gupta was a bank manager at BoB's district centre branch in Janakpuri, West Delhi. A case has been registered against him and CBI is also conducting a search at his house in order to go into the details of the investigation. |
