Royal Bank of Scotland's (RBS) Indian subsidiary is planning to bring India in line with many of its foreign operations. The bank has initiated a special credit solutions programme to provide lending based on portfolio as a collateral.

The service is aimed at clients who wish to leverage their existing assets and create liquidity for personal loans, or investment and business purposes.

Credit Solutions would provide clients with loans with portfolio of securities as a collateral. These securities would range from bonds, equities, debentures, mutual funds, and fixed maturity plans offered by mutual fund companies. The lending services would include term loans, guarantees, and overdraft facilities.

RBS Private Banking is already offering Credit Solutions services in Hong Kong, Switzerland, The United Kingdom, Singapore, and expects a keen response from the clients in India.
