HSBC has appointed Sandeep Uppal as managing director as well as Head, commercial banking for its Indian operations. Uppal takes the post after succeeding Puneet Chaddha. Sources said that Chaddha will get an altogether new role in HSBC whose details have not yet been furnished though. Prior to holding this post, Uppal was working in HSBC Mauritious as its CEO from October 2006. He has 19 years of experience in different fields of banking ranging from personal banking, trade services, corporate banking, strategic planning, private banking and commercial banking across different nations including India, Philippines, UK, Hong Kong and Mauritius. HSBC India's CEO, Stuart A Davis, said "Sandeep's vast experience across different product and customer groups as well as different geographies serves as a huge asset. Given his vast banking experience and his knowledge of multiple markets, I am confident that Sandeep is well-positioned to take our commercial banking business to the next level."
