SBI plans 13,000 recruitments during the year

Banking giant, State Bank of India has plans to recruit 13,000 people for various levels during the current fiscal to meet it manpower needs for the growth of bank's business.

Under the recruitment drive, the bank plans to recruit 11 thousand clerks for promoting its financial products and services in Mumbai circle and another 1,000 for Delhi circle. It plans to allocate 900 hires, each to Patna, Lucknow, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Chandigarh locations.

The talent will help the bank in prompting and developing its banking and advisory business services. The working hours would vary as per the requirements.

The profile requires extensive travelling.

"During 2008-09, the bank absorbed 33,703 new employees and this year we have plans to induct 13,000 into the SBI system," a top official confirmed.

The bank had advertised for staffing of 500 management executives last month.

The bank is also hiring individuals for rural marketing & recovery operations, besides technical officers for farm sector on an employment contract basis. The total headcount under these jobs is expected to reach up to 500.

The new hires will be help in driving productivity, as confirmed by an official of the bank.
