The former board member of ICICI Bank, Sonjoy Chatterjee has found a new niche in Goldman Sachs. He will be joining the organization's Indian operations as co- CEO along with Brooks Entwistle. Brooks has been handling the Indian operations since January 2006. With Sonjoy departing from the ICICI Group, it will be the third departure from the senior level managment of ICICI Bank. Last year marked the resignation of Shikha Sharma and Renuka Ramnath. They were heading ICICI Prudential Life and ICICI Venture respectively. Sonjoy's entry to Goldman Sachs will open up its roads to the Indian Industy, two officials quoted. The appointment would be announced in the next few days, officials of Goldman Sachs said. The vacany created by the departure of Chatterjee would be filled by Rajiv Sabharwal has returned as senior general manager and currently heads its retail banking operations. During his tenor with ICICI Bank, Mr Chatterjee was responsible for or a number of businesses like corporate & investment banking, government banking, and international banking, some of which were cash cows for ICICI. His role was modified after the reshuffle that took place in March and he was made the head of new business ventures. Dy.MD Mr. Sandeep Bakhshi was then givent the charge of corporate banking. Vijay Chandok took charge of international banking. He has helped the bank make many big ticket deals $1.2-billion Whyte & Mackey acquisition by United Breweries. He is a graduate from IIM Bangalore and joined erstwhile ICICI's project finance business in Kolkata in 1994.
