Banking services in Rajasthan have been hit by the three day long strike called by employees of Bank of Rajasthan against the merger of the bank with ICICI Bank.

A unionist said that the closure of more than 2500 brnaches in the state led to halt in transactions amounting to Rs 2000 crore.

Except for SBI, almost all private as well as public sector banks showed support to the strikers and kept their respective branches closed, Gopal Das Gupta, convenor of United Forum of BOR Unions said.

Gupta also added that all the 467 BoR branches across the country remained closed.

Mahesh Mishra, All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) vice-president and Rajasthan Bank Employees Union general secretary, confirmed the support extended by almost all banks to BoR employees.
