Public sector lender Syndicate Bank has introduced a pilot project for loan processing to small and medium scale enterprises. The lender has initially started two SME loan processing centers, one in Bangalore and the other in New Delhi, said a source.

"On a pilot basis, we will set up SME loan processing units at two centres, and take it forward to other locations based on the response," he said.

The number of centralised processing centers (CPCs) for loan processing counts up to 11 for the bank all over India.

The home loan book of the bank is worth Rs 10,000 crore and has a customer base of more than 1.6 lakh for the same segment.

"Currently, we have home loan processing units at all lead districts, and we are also exploring possibilities of extending them to other centres," the source added.

"The MSME segment currently forms about 15 per cent of our total loan portfolio," he added.
