Public sector lender, Vijaya Bank has appointed HS Upendra Kamath as Chairman and Managing Director of the bank.

Kamath has assumed his new post with effect from April 01, 2011.

He was earlier working as executive director in Canara Bank, another public sector lender.

Kamath has been in the banking industry since the past 37 years. His career started with Union Bank of India.
